We are here to support you at every stage of your teaching journey — whether you are just starting or bring years of experience to the classroom. The Teaching and Learning Centre Science (TLC Science) is your expert centre for teaching and learning. We offer a broad training programme for all faculty educators to keep developing their didactical knowledge, skills and attitude. We offer the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO) programme for more experienced teachers, as well as programmes for targeted groups such as PhD candidates and student assistants. In addition, we provide open courses such as LEGO Serious Play and E-learning modules on topics such as blended learning, basic didactics, AI in higher education, and more.
We support educational innovation through projects such as GenAI and active learning pilots, as well as through grants, special interest groups, and innovative programmes like the Visible Learning Trajectories Programme (ZLP). Our video studio supports you in creating high-quality educational videos and podcasts, combining didactical guidance with hands-on technical support. Discover new tools, techniques, and opportunities to enhance your teaching.
The UvA TLC network invites you to connect, learn, and grow through several knowledge-sharing opportunities. Expand your expertise by exploring our Educational Themes like AI or blended learning, interesting articles and Teacher Stories. Research into education at the UvA is important for increasing the quality of education. We support the various forms of research initiated by TLC Central, often in collaboration with other departements within the UvA. Explore the different studies, projects and programmes and get involved!

The Teaching and Learning Center Science is the faculty expertise centre for educational development and innovation within the Faculty of Science. We support and inspire teaching staff in their professional development and educational innovation. Working closely with teachers, programmes, and the faculty, we contribute to high-quality, inclusive, and future-oriented education. We aim to create a community of teachers who inspire each other, supported by the TLC.

TLC Science is part of a network of UvA Teaching & Learning Centres. The network consists of seven faculty teams and a central team within the University of Amsterdam.
