High‑quality assessment is essential for effective teaching and meaningful student learning. The Assessment Network helps you to strengthen assessment practices and support innovation in teaching and learning.
The network brings together expertise from across the faculty to share knowledge, develop new approaches, and support teachers in their assessment practice.
The Assessment Network is a wide collaboration between the five educational pillars:
• Life Sciences
• Information Sciences
• Physical Sciences
• Amsterdam University College (AUC)
• Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS)
Each pillar contributes an assessment ambassador — a teaching staff member with expertise in assessment who is connected to TLC Science. Together with the educational advisor for AI & Assessment, they form the Assessment Network team. Assessment ambassadors support teachers within their pillar while also contributing to facultywide innovation and knowledge sharing.
The mission of the Assessment Network is to create a collaborative and innovative environment in which assessment within the Faculty of Science is continuously improved. By combining expertise, evidence based practices, and technology, the network aims to:
• Strengthen the quality and reliability of assessment.
• Support teachers in assessment design and evaluation.
• Stimulate innovation in assessment.
• Improve insight into student learning outcomes.
• Contribute to high quality education within the Faculty of Science.
• Advice on assessment design.
• Feedback on existing assessments.
• Inspiration for alternative assessment formats.
• Guidance on AI and assessment.
• Sharing good practices across programmes.
