Module 2 | Didactical skills – From telling to teaching | FNWI
Course description
This blended module combines an e-learning with an interactive workshop. In the e-learning, you’ll explore key teaching strategies and reflect on how to move from simply explaining content to actively supporting student learning. You complete the e-learning at your own pace before attending the workshop, where we’ll put these ideas into practice.
Together, we’ll explore practical questions such as: How do you start and end a lesson to create the right atmosphere? How can you encourage student engagement? And how do you guide students through their thinking process when they ask questions?
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- deliver a strong lesson opening and closing that enhance the learning atmosphere;
- support students’ thinking by using scaffolding techniques when responding to their questions;
- foster student engagement during your lesson;
- give clear and motivating instructions to ensure a smooth lesson flow.

Target audience:
- Beginning teachers.
- This module is compulsory for all teaching-assistants (student-assistants, tutors and PhD students) and teachers 4. It is therefore part of the DOP introductory training and the introductory didactical teacher training for TA’s.

Prior knowledge: No specific prior knowledge required.
Required time investment: Approximately 1 hour for the e-module and 3 hours for the workshop.
