Safeguarding assessment quality for Examinations Boards

Safeguarding assessment quality is one of the legal tasks of the Examination Board (sometimes assigned to an Assessment Committee). How can you best approach this task? What are the quality standards for assessment, and how do you safeguard them? How do you solve complex dilemmas in related to assessment quality? In this workshop you will discuss these questions on using practical examples, together with colleagues from various faculties and TLC assessment specialists.

Clarification of program

In this practical workshop we will discuss different approaches and strategies to safeguard assessment quality by Examinations Boards and/or Assessment Committees. However, experience has shown that the theory does not always correspond to what actually happens in practice, and that assessment quality is difficult to capture in a checklist.

This can lead to difficult dilemmas and questions: what do you do as Examinations Board if it turns out that there is no clear alignment between learning objectives and assessment? Or if there are no clear assessment criteria for an assignment? Or if you notice that many courses have complicated and unclear resit regulations?

After a brief refresher on the theory of assessment quality, we look at cases that help us bridge the gap between theory and practice. We will go through examples of checklists and procedures used at different faculties to safeguard assessment quality.

The session is in Dutch.
