Teacher Development
Several elements are important for the quality of academic education. Consider the didactic skills of teachers. But a strong and coherent curriculum is also important. The TLC Economics and Business (EB) offers a wide range of courses and workshops to support all EB teachers in the (further) development of their didactic knowledge, skills and attitude. Ranging from courses for those who have never taught before to programs for experienced teachers responsible for entire curricula.

Didactical support
With Classroom visits (formerly Formative Teaching Advice), we work together to improve our educational quality. Whether you are just starting out or have been teaching for years, a classroom visit provides you valuable feedback. It encourages reflection and supports your further professional development in teaching and classroom practice.
How does it work?
- You schedule a date for a Classroom visit, including a post-observation meeting.
- Before the class starts, you have a short check-in with the observer. An observer is a TLC-EB trainer or an educational adviser.
- The observer attends the class.
- Afterwards, you have a post-observation meeting of 30 to 45 minutes. This is a professional dialogue that focuses on strengths, with practical tips for further development and useful insights.
- You receive a short one-page report summarising the lesson context, key observations, highlights, points for attention, and practical recommendations.

Workshops
Workshop description:
During this 1-hour introduction, you’ll be explained the basic elements of Canvas; the Learning Management System of the UvA. Aspects such as setting up your online course page, creating assignments, and posting announcements will be covered, as well as entering grades/evaluations. Because it’s a 1-on-1 introduction, there is plenty of room to address your specific questions about Canvas.
