Teaching video reflection

Building on the first-year training Evaluation your own teaching, teachers will continue gathering feedback on their teaching. In this session, you will evaluate teaching videos, formulate specific learning questions, and provide peer coaching based on your colleagues’ videos.

Note: In Evaluating Your Own Teaching*, you learned the basics of collecting feedback. In Teaching Video Reflection*, you will use evaluation forms to assess teaching videos.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this training you will be able to…

improve their teaching, based on evaluation data
proactively ask colleagues, coordinators, teaching support staff, students and others for feedback
reflect on their actions as a teacher in every aspect of your teaching and on their awareness of inclusiveness and social safety in the classroom.
reflect on and discuss teaching activities and your growth and development as a teacher, based on evaluations and results. You can set achievable and measurable goals for yourself in respect of the above too

Time investment		3.5 hours in class + 3 hours preparation time + 3 hours portfolio (for teachers in Workgroup Teacher Programme)
Preparation and materials		Make sure to prepare the following: Record a tutorial meeting of you teaching, and select 10 minutes of the video to use for this training: Plan and record your tutorial using a camera (BRIO2, available in the tutorial room, or borrow an OWL) and software (MS Teams or Kaltura Capture). Seek assistance from your ICTO department if needed. Bring your laptop, earphones, the recorded video, and the student observation forms to the training. Let at least two students of your group fill out (either on paper or digitally) this observation form for the recorded tutorial meeting, and bring these forms to the training.
