Teaching and learning with AI

The IP Theme grant ‘Responsible AI: teaching and learning with AI’ supports UvA educators and employees in improving and/or creating educational environments by experimenting and ethically integrate GenAI applications in their teaching. Human welfare, fairness, transparency, privacy and accountability are at the forefront of it, to contribute to a more inclusive and stimulating learning environment for students.

Responsible AI grant for pioneers

AI offers many opportunities to both students and educators. In doing so, its use raises many ethical questions. Do you have an innovative idea for the responsible incorporation of an AI technology in your lessons or learning environment? And would you like to experiment with it? Then apply for the Responsible AI grant and seize the chance to be part of a pioneering innovation that shapes the future of education.

Within this theme, we are seeking proposals in the following categories:

  1. Content delivery: how can GenAI support teachers in delivering learning material more effectively?
  2. Assessment and feedback: how can the ethical use of GenAI be integrated into the assessment and feedback process?
  3. Teacher-student interaction: how can GenAI enhance teacher-student interaction?
  4. Learning activities: what novel in-class and other learning activities can be designed to improve the learning process?
  5. Free theme: what other uses can GenAI have in teaching in university education?
