Feedback: key to learning

For every educator (EN)

Feedback is a very important aspect of the learning process. It provides information about the learning process of students, makes it clear how advanced they are, and shows where developmental aspects lie. Questions that will be addressed in this course include: ‘What is good feedback?’, ‘What criteria does good feedback meet?’ and ‘How do you ensure that the student benefits from the feedback?’

Course details

The course is small, activating and interactive. We work with a small group of no more than 6 participants. You will bring an example of a situation you find difficult to the session. You will practice under the guidance of a training actor and experience receiving feedback. After this course, you will be able to:

  • indicate when and how to give effective feedback on behaviour;
  • deal with “difficult situations” such as very present or very quiet students
  • explain why contact differs per student and why different students need different approaches

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive a diploma or certificate upon completion of the course?

Upon completion of this course, you will not receive a diploma. After all, it is not a study programme you are completing. However, it is possible to receive a certificate of participation.

How much time am I expected to spend on this course outside of sessions?

Before the start of each course, we ask participants to fill in a form and send this to the trainer. This helps the trainer to obtain insight in to the learning goals and expectations of the participants. For participants, this a good way to prepare for asking the questions and discussing the topics that would benefit them most.

In addition, the majority of courses invite participants to bring in materials (such as a case study), or to prepare for sessions by watching/reading some online self-study materials. For a complete course, the total preparation time will be approximately 1 hour.
