Labbuddy is an online tool that allows students to learn the proper protocols for preparing and conducting experiments in laboratory environments by allowing them to virtually (and theoretically) conduct a lab experiment. Labbuddy offers a variety of didactic tools, such as automatic feedback, the option to keep a lab journal and record comments, and the option to export the lab journal to Word for handing in to the teacher.

With this tool, as a teacher, I can:

  • Displaying a (lab) protocol in an interactive way
  • Having students prepare for a practical
  • Labbuddy offers a variety of didactic tools, such as;
    • Automatic feedback
    • Keep a lab journal
    • Record comments
    • Export the lab journal to Word
Why should I use this tool?
  • It is a visual way for students to understand and perform experiments
  • There is a preparation mode and a practice mode
    • This allows students to prepare properly beforehand
    • While conducting the experiment, students can keep track of where in the protocol they are
  • Labbuddy works with feedback, so if students do not get the sequence of experiments or the answer to a question correct, they know what to improve on.
What is this tool less suitable for?
  • It does not include a proper lab journal function
    • Exporting a lab journal is possible, but all protocol steps are copied along
When does this tool work best?
  • During lab practicals
