eJournal is a portfolio tool for students, created by students of the Faculty of Science. eJournal makes it easy for students to provide efficient feedback among themselves during the process. It is also easy for lecturers to monitor progress.

With this tool, as a teacher, I can:

  • Assess non-linear student assignments
  • Assess assignments where not every student does exactly the same thing (e.g. an essay)
  • Give students the freedom to interpret part of the assignment themselves, if desired over several years/courses
  • Provide (peer) feedback on a process (rather than just the final product)
  • Monitoring student progress
Why should I use this tool?
  • It is a good portfolio tool that guides students during a learning process
  • Great for tracking growth in a learning process (study skills, career orientation) or for collecting various components (reflections, modules)
  • Supports the submission of several assignments over time, all of which are assessed individually
  • Students are in charge of their own progress and can easily see it for themselves. Students can also set their own learning objectives.
  • Easy feedback on individual assignments, also suitable for peer feedback.
What is this tool less suitable for?
  • For assignment that are more or less the same for everyone, it is easier to use Canvas.
When does this tool work best?
  • When you want to create an overview for you and the students in a variable assignment
  • Useful for feedback on the process
