Storytelling is increasingly used to improve student engagement and understanding. Stories make your message more engaging and provide connection. Students remember complex information better and empathise more easily. Curious about the possibilities of applying storytelling? Or do you already do this and would you like to share your experiences? Then, come to the Storytelling café on 7 April 2025.
This event will take place at Handboogstraat 2 and is led by Sjoukje Kerman, who is bilingual (English and Dutch). Depending on the group composition, she will choose the preferred language. Groups can also be formed based on individual language preferences.
At the Storytelling café, you will discover how stories can help make complex teaching more accessible and impactful.
We will start the afternoon with the presentation: Sharing inclusive narrative structures in an academic course setting. Afterwards, there will be room to share experiences, learn from each other’s successes (and failures), and practice storytelling techniques together. Discover useful tips from research and personal experiences of colleagues and refine your own storytelling style.
Whether you are an experienced storyteller or just starting out, you are welcome to join us. Get inspired, meet new people and learn how to use storytelling more effectively in your teaching. During this event, you will discover how to (continue to) motivate and inspire your students – and yourself.
