Extended Reality (XR) includes various technologies such as: Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and 360-degree videos. Members of the Special Interest Group (SIG) eXtended Reality are either working on the deployment of these technologies in education or are interested in learning more about them.
The main purpose of the SIG eXtended Reality is to gather and share knowledge about XR in education. This includes new developments in hardware and software. Meanwhile, the focus is on effective teaching methods and implementation in education. The aim is to ensure open sharing of designed learning materials and facilitate exchange between faculties. Moreover, the SIG investigates the need for a community platform and which form this could adopt.
Would you like to participate in discussing the use of XR in higher education? Then the SIG eXtended Reality might be something for you! This collaboration goes beyond the UvA: other interested parties and SIGs from other institutions are also very welcome to join. In any case, the events are open to employees of UvA faculties, Amsterdam UMC, HvA and VU.
Take a look at the core group members below.
