Research seminar | Rethinking learning outcomes with Dora Achourioti

Generative AI (GenAI) interferes with what we can reasonably expect from students’ work. Tasks that used to serve as evidence of knowledge and understanding, such as summarising, analysing and writing assignments, can now partly be taken over by AI. At the same time, other skills are becoming more important: creativity, critical engagement with sources, and the skillful and responsible use of GenAI (prompting).

This raises an urgent question: how should we adapt our learning objectives to the rise of GenAI?

In this interactive session, Dora Achourioti will share insights from her research on Intended Learning Outcomes and GenAI. Together, we will analyse existing learning objectives: what remains relevant, what needs sharpening, and what might need to change. The session is aimed at helping you explore how you might revise the learning objectives in their own courses.
