Starting programme directors often need support and expansion of their expertise for their (new) tasks. As a programme director, how do you ensure the quality of the programme, the right staffing and good collaboration?

This course is designed for programme directors who are in their first year of appointment and for whom this position is new. A group is 4-6 participants in size. Interested/selected candidates will have a short intake interview with one of the trainers.

Training format

There will be four to five interactive half-day workshops, (16-20 contact hours), spread over a period of approximately four months. Didactic principles:

  • Interactive, inspiring and informative;
  • Knowledge sharing between programme directors;
  • Space for intervision and working on your own learning questions.

In addition to the contact hours, participants work 3-4 hours per workshop on a preparatory assignment (‘homework’).

Content

During the training, participants will consider the following questions, among others:

  • What does the role entail? What are you responsible for: course content,
  • quality assurance, student communication, student welfare, budgets.
  • What do you need to know about organizational structure? What does that mean for structuring your own programme? Who are involved?
  • How do you arrange cooperation and exchange with the education team and the teaching team?
  • How do I ensure alignment within the curriculum, e.g. between lecturers or the learning objectives in relation to the final attainment levels?
  • What does the quality cycle look like for the programme?
  • What would you like to achieve in the coming period?
  • Where are your own (possible) development points in your role as director of the programme?
