Module 6 | Tailor your supervision style | FNWI

Course description

Supervision is a dynamic process that requires flexibility rather than a fixed approach. This module examines how supervision can contribute to student learning and development, with a focus on adapting to different needs and contexts. Participants will critically reflect on their own supervisory practice and explore strategies to support students in becoming more independent and engaged learners.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • explain your role and value as a supervisor, and the purpose of supervision;
  • assess the supervision needs of your student using the Blanchard Situational Leadership Model;
  • tailor your supervision style to be more task-oriented or people-oriented based on the student’s needs and to stimulate self-directed learning;
  • recognize your own strengths and challenges as a supervisor using the Core Quadrant model.
