IBIS (Implementation of a Business & Innovation module in Science Programs)

University students majoring in various disciplines are increasingly requesting the introduction of business context in their programs. Traditionally science study programs tend to focus (exclusively) on (multidisciplinary) domain specific subjects. By introducing a module of Business and Innovation in science programs with emphasis on the role of curiosity driven fundamental research, this project will improve the quality and the relevance of higher education science programs. The entrepreneurial skills, acquired by the students who have taken this module will increase the students’ relevance on the labour market.

This Strategic Partnership aims to enhance transversal skills, in particular entrepreneurship and feeling for innovation, in science students by using innovative learning methods. Innovation and entrepreneurship is an important contemporary issue.

Results

The project develops a Business & Innovation module for science programs. In particular it focusses on 18 ECTS of the module and the necessary tools to offer the module through an open learning platform with interactive features which integrates Open Educational Resources (OER) and delivers parts as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). For this project an innovative pedagogical learning approach will be developed and Learning Analyitics will be used to follow and support the learning process.
