AI Innovation Assistants

Do you want to use UvA AI Chat in your teaching, but lack the time or capacity to properly develop an application? The AI Innovation Assistants can support you. More and more lecturers are exploring the possibilities of AI for education, but struggle to translate ideas into a properly tested, working application. The AI Innovation Assistants are trained student assistants from the GenAI Living Lab who know the ins and outs of UvA AI Chat. Together with lecturers, they design and develop concrete AI applications for education.

What is the goal?

The goal of this initiative is to prevent educational innovation with AI from getting stuck at the idea stage, and to support lecturers in practically implementing UvA AI Chat in their teaching. The AI Innovation Assistants help design and develop a concrete application, while you as a lecturer remain the owner of the educational design.

By iteratively building, testing, and improving, you not only arrive at a result that fits your teaching, but also gain insight into how the AI application is designed and how to further develop it yourself.

At the same time, these projects help us build knowledge about responsible and effective use of AI in education, which can then be shared within the UvA.

What do you get?

  1. AI Application
You create a concrete result, such as a persona (chatbot), prompt, or workflow, that is ready to be used in your work or teaching.

  2. Insight
You gain insight into the design of the application, including the prompts used, decisions made, and structure, so that you can understand and further adapt it yourself.
  3. Knowledge Sharing
You have the opportunity to share your approach, experiences, and results, contributing to broader knowledge development about AI within the UvA.

  1. Request
You submit a short request via the form.
  2. Intake & Matching
An intake meeting follows with experts from the TLC and the AI Innovation Assistant to determine whether your request is a good fit.
  3. AI Innovation Assistant
You work together with the assistant on designing, building, and improving the application. This happens iteratively: you design an initial version, develop it further, test the application, and improve it based on the results.
  4. Application in Education
The application is implemented in education and adjusted where needed based on experience and feedback.
  5. Evaluation & Sharing
Finally, the application is evaluated and insights and examples are shared within the university.
