Workshop: GenAI in Assessment

The introduction of multiple accessible and powerful Generative AI (GenAI) tools has raised many questions about the assessment regimes of educational institutions everywhere. This shift is causing educators to urgently examine their assessments, but many questions remain – what needs changing, and why? This workshop delves into the capacity of GenAI and how unsupervised assessments are impacted.

After this workshop you'll be able to...

  • Identify the possibilities and limitations of Generative AI (GenAI) and explain how this technology impacts assessment methods.
  • Analyze how GenAI influences unsupervised assessments and the risks and opportunities it presents.
  • Distinguish between legitimate use and misuse of GenAI within their educational context and make informed decisions about its application.
  • Identify and apply various strategies to make assessments GenAI-resilient while maintaining validity and reliability.
  • Design constructively aligned and authentic summative assessments that are resistant to unwanted AI use.
