The Senior Qualifying Education (STQ) program is aimed at teachers, assistant-professors, associate professors and full professors who design, innovate and ensure quality education at the curriculum level. The goal is to support lecturers in guiding the process of curriculum development.
For senior teaching staff with a strategic teaching position, you may be invited – on recommendation by the dean – to take the Leergang Onderwijskundig Leiderschap (Learning trajectory in Educational Leadership) which builds further on the STQ; in Dutch only.
Referring lecturers for BKO:
Each semester, all institute directors are contacted by the BKO team to register lecturers who want or need to start the UTQ/BKO trajectory. Lecturers can also sign up themselves by emailing the BKO team (bko-fnwi@uva.nl), but always need approval from their supervisor.
Obtaining the BKO certificate is mandatory within three years of the initial appointment to one of the mandatory positions at the Faculty of Science for every teacher in the position of assistant professor, associate professor, and professor, or lecturer 3, 2, and 1 with a permanent appointment or temporary appointment for more than one academic year at the Faculty of Science with a teaching load of at least 0.1 FTE.
