You can find the specialized Active Learning Spaces in the G-building and the A-wing of the Science Park.
The Active Learning Spaces form an integral part of our collection of educational spaces. They therefore do not have a separate booking system. If you want to use (one of the) rooms, you can request them with the scheduling team via Datanose, in your scheduling preconditions, or via rooster-science@uva.nl.
Check the overview below to see which rooms offer which features, and find out which Active Learning Space best suits your teaching.
Three rooms are specially set up for group work and active teaching methods; A1.18, A1.24 and A1.28. The smaller classrooms in the A-wing, A1.04-A1.14, are equipped with flexible lightweight furniture to allow variation in the room set-up, and space for students and teachers to interact. A1.22 is a equipped for hybrid teaching as well as small group-trainings or project work.
Three rooms are specially furnished for active teaching methods during pilot project Future Learning Spaces: G0.18a and b, and G0.23/25. These rooms now offer modern features such as height adjustable tables, folding tables, a choice of seating options, LCD screens for each group, and mobile white/posterboards. Here, each team of students can have their own project space within the room.
Check the table below for an overview of the types of furniture set-up or shape, collaboration tools (p.a. mobile-, wall- or mini-whiteboards; group screens for students) or recording options, and for a quick link to a 360 degree image of the room.
NB: In general, the larger Active Learning Spaces do not have chalkboards. You can find chalkboards in A1.04, A1.06, A1.10, A1.11 and A1.14.
