This classroom arrangement is commonly used at the UvA. Students are seated in rows, allowing for small group discussions and helping each other, while the teacher instructs from the front of the classroom. This setup ensures clear visibility of both the lecturer and the presentation materials.
Kindly note, when making use of the active learning setups, please change the room back to this standard setup before the next class starts.
Standard Classroom layout Learning Activities:
- Exit Ticket: brief assessment at the end of the class to gauge understanding.
- Muddiest Point: identifying the most confusing or unclear parts of a lesson.
- Think-Pair-Share: reflect individually, discuss with a partner, then share with the class.
- Interactive Lectures: engage students actively during lectures with questions and discussions.
- Student Response Systems: use technology (e.g., Wooclap) for real-time student feedback and participation.
- Demonstration: visual or hands-on display of concepts or experiments.
- Panel Presentations: multiple presenters share insights on a topic.
- One Minute Paper: quick written reflection on key takeaways from the class.
